Penicillin G is a β-lactam antibiotic having antimicrobial action against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Penicillin G potassium USP reference standard is used to prepare standard solutions for identification and test system suitability.(1) Further information is available in monograph, Penicillin G Potassium, USP43-NF38 – 3436 of United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
Mode of Action: Penicillin G acts by inhibiting cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin binding proteins (PBPs), inhibiting peptidoglycan chain cross-linking.
Antimicrobial spectrum: This product is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
